Privacy Policy

1. Scope

AmpTree is a platform where fans connect with music artists and communities. This Policy covers our iOS app and our website at amptree.io.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Account information: your email address and password (for email sign-up), or the identifier Apple provides when you use Sign in with Apple.
• Profile information: your display name, optional bio, profile photo, and a profile color.
• Local community:the city/community you choose to join. This is selected by you — see “Location” below.
• Content you create: posts, replies, votes, direct messages, artist-profile details (for artist accounts), and any photos and videos you upload (including in posts, replies, and direct messages).
• Safety actions: users you block and reports you submit.
• Support requests: information you include when you contact us.

Information created through your use of the app:

• Push notification token (from Apple and Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver notifications you enable. This is stored privately and is not visible to other users.
• First-party engagement counts that help artists understand interest — for example, how many times a profile was viewed, per-city view counts, and how many times a merchandise item's “checkout” button was tapped. These are stored in our own database. We do not use any third-party advertising or analytics SDK, and we do not build advertising profiles.
• Security and fraud-prevention data: to protect the service we use Apple's App Attest / DeviceCheck and Firebase App Check to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of our app, and we process IP addresses to rate-limit and prevent abuse.

Information we do NOT collect:

• We do not collect your device location (precise or approximate). AmpTree has no access to your location; your local community is a city you choose yourself.
• We do notcollect or store your payment card details or shipping address. Merchandise purchases happen on the artist's own store (see “Merchandise”).
• We do not use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps or websites, so AmpTree does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

3. How We Use Information

• To create and operate your account and authenticate you.
• To display your profile and content to other users as intended by the app.
• To enable messaging, communities, and artist features.
• To send transactional emails (such as password-reset and email-verification messages) and push notifications you enable.
• To provide artists with aggregate engagement counts.
• To keep AmpTree safe: moderation, blocking, reporting, abuse-prevention, and enforcing our Terms.
• To provide support and respond to you.

4. Location

AmpTree does not request or collect device location. When you join a local community, you are choosing a city yourself; we associate that self-selected city with your profile to power local-scene features and to count profile views by city. You can change or leave a community at any time.

5. Merchandise and Payments

Artists may link their own online stores (powered by Shopify). When you tap “Buy,” AmpTree opens the artist's Shopify checkout in a secure in-app browser. AmpTree does not process the payment and never receives or stores your card number, billing information, or shipping address — those are handled by Shopify and the artist. We record that a checkout was started (as an engagement count for the artist).

If an artist connects their Shopify store to AmpTree, then for each completed order we receive and store: the Shopify order number, the store's domain, the order total and currency, the number of items and the first product's name, the order's payment status, and — as the store shares them — the buyer's name and email address (plus the AmpTree user identifier if the checkout came from the app). We do notreceive or store card details, billing information, or shipping addresses. This information is retained as the artist's business record so they can see their sales.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with:

Service providers that operate AmpTree on our behalf:

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, cloud functions, push messaging, app-integrity (App Check), and delivery of email-verification emails (and password-reset emails when the branded path below is unavailable).
• Apple— Sign in with Apple, push-notification delivery, and app-integrity (App Attest / DeviceCheck).
• Resend— delivery of your branded password-reset email, sent from noreply@amptree.io.
• Shopify— merchandise checkout and, for connected stores, order information (see “Merchandise”).

• Other users, according to how the app works — your profile, posts, replies, and community activity are visible to other users; direct messages are visible to the participants.
• For legal and safety reasons — to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
• In a business transfer — if AmpTree is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, consistent with this Policy.

7. Data Retention and Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your artist profile(s) and their data, your posts, replies, votes, community memberships, the reports you submitted, your uploaded photos and videos, your push token, and your account itself.

Some information is retained after deletion:

• Merchandise order records are kept as long as needed for tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes, and remain part of the relevant artist's business records.
• Safety records (such as reports made about you, or records needed to enforce bans) may be retained to keep the community safe.
• Direct messages: we delete your own messages and remove your name from shared conversations, but the other participant keeps the messages they sent, since those are their content.

8. Children

AmpTree is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at info@amptree.io and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, app-integrity attestation, and abuse rate-limiting — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Choices and Rights

• Access / update: edit your profile in the app.
• Delete: delete your account in Settings (see Section 7).
• Notifications: control push notifications in iOS Settings.
• Requests: to make a privacy request, email info@amptree.io.

11. California Residents

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, access, delete, and correct the personal information we hold about you. AmpTree does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, email info@amptree.io; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

12. Where Your Information Is Processed

AmpTree is operated from the United States, and your information is processed in the United States. If you access AmpTree from outside the United States, you understand that your information is processed here, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
